Oscillatory Correlates of Selective Restudy

چکیده

Prior behavioral work has shown that selective restudy of some studied items leaves recall the other unaffected when lag between study and is short, but improves prolonged. The beneficial effect been attributed to context retrieval, assuming reactivates at thus provides a retrieval cue for (Bäuml, 2019 ). Here results two experiments are reported, in each which subjects list then, after short 2-min or prolonged 10-min lag, restudied items. Participants' electroencephalography (EEG) was recorded during both phases. In Experiment 2, not 1, engaged mental reinstatement task immediately before phase started, trying mentally reinstate context. Results 1 revealed theta/alpha power increase from an alpha/beta decrease long lag. Engagement 2 eliminated power. consistent with view observed reflects became obsolete there preceding reinstatement.

Oscillatory correlates of autobiographical memory.

Recollection of events from one's own life is referred to as autobiographical memory. Autobiographical memory is an important part of our self. Neuroimaging findings link self-referential processes with the default mode network (DMN). Much evidence coming primarily from functional magnetic resonance imaging studies shows that autobiographical memory and DMN have a common neural base. In this st...

Oscillatory Correlates of Visual Consciousness

Conscious experiences are linked to activity in our brain: the neural correlates of consciousness (NCC). Empirical research on these NCCs covers a wide range of brain activity signals, measures, and methodologies. In this paper, we focus on spontaneous brain oscillations; rhythmic fluctuations of neuronal (population) activity which can be characterized by a range of parameters, such as frequen...

Brain oscillatory correlates of working memory constraints.

It has been claimed that the coordination of neuronal oscillations differing in frequency is relevant for cognition. However, the validity of this claim has scarcely been investigated. Recent studies revealed that cross-frequency phase coupling and modulations of alpha-power dissociate between retention of relevant and suppression of irrelevant information in visual working memory (WM). We summ...

Oscillatory EEG correlates of episodic trace decay.

Recent studies suggest that human theta oscillations appear to be functionally associated with memory processes. It is less clear, however, to what type of memory sub-processes theta is related. Using a continuous word recognition task with different repetition lags, we investigate whether theta reflects the strength of an episodic memory trace or general processing demands, such as task diffic...

Feeling of knowing and restudy choices.

Feeling-of-knowing judgments (FOK-Js) reflect people's confidence that they would be able to recognize a currently unrecallable item. Although much research has been devoted to the factors determining the magnitude and accuracy of FOK-Js, much less work has addressed the issue of whether FOK-Js are related to any form of metacognitive control over memory processes. In the present study, we test...
